Zipipop is looking for user-testing help

Zipipop, a new media startup with deep roots inside Media Lab, is making good progress since winning Best Early-stage Startup at this summer’s Mobile 2.0 Europe conference (http://about.zipipop.com/press_releases) in Barcelona. They won the award for their fun, fast event organizing service – Zipiko.

Mlab alumna, Heli Ellis at Espoo Ciné International Film Festival

Ardent Martyr, the final thesis project of Heli Ellis has been chosen to Espoo Ciné International Film Festival. The film will be screened on Saturday, 23.8.2008 at 16:30 in cinema room “Louhisali” of Espoo Cultural Centre.

New students – welcome!

Our new students, hello! You will enter on Monday 25.8. at 10, as you knew already. The place where you should arrive is the Media Lab 4th floor lecture room in Taik. You can use the main entrance or the D-stair, they both are in the second floor. Which means that you walk two stories up from the street level.

The old Dean and the new Dean of the Media Lab

Philip Dean retires from position as head of Media Lab -
Teemu Leinonen Dean from August 11, 2008

Professor Philip Dean leaves his position as Dean of the Media Lab at TaiK after over 14 years of leading the department. Philip Dean will continue his career within the Media Lab faculty as Professor of Media Management and as advisor and expert within national and international committees. He has been granted a sabbatical period for personal research and artistic activity in preparation for new challenges and developments as part of the Aalto University starting September 2009. He has accepted an invitation as visiting scholar to the design school of the Victoria University at Wellington, New Zealand during January-May 2009 where his research topic includes study of advanced mobile media services within the cultural and media service sectors as well as artistic work in preparation for an exhibition of digital photography.
