We are proud to present our new nine MA candidates with their Master Thesis works. The thesis will be presented and discussed in an open sessions taking place in the Media Lab on 23.-24.11.2009.
The Finnish chapter of ACM’s special interest group on human computer interaction (SIGCHI) organizes an annual contest for the best MA thesis dealing with HCI topics. Last year Media Lab’s Eirik Fatland’s project was among the finalist. This year Martin Gimpl got the first prize.

Aalto University is a new university to be formed by the Helsinki School of Economics (HSE), the University of Art and Design Helsinki (TaiK) and Helsinki University of Technology (TKK) on 1 January 2010.
The doctoral program in Media Lab Helsinki invites to a research symposium on the theme of openness during November 5–6, 2009. This academic event is naturally open for all interested parties who want to understand the ongoing shift from an industrially organized era to an era of networks and social production. The symposium aims to explore acting in this space, keeping theoretical and practical knowledge together. The event takes place in the grand lecture hall (822) on the 8th floor of the University of Art and Design Helsinki.
