OPEN2009 symposium studies openness and shares knowledge

The doctoral program in Media Lab Helsinki invites to a research symposium on the theme of openness during November 5–6, 2009. This academic event is naturally open  for all interested parties who want to understand the ongoing shift from an industrially organized era to an era of networks and social production. The symposium aims to explore acting in this space, keeping theoretical and practical knowledge together. The event takes place in the grand lecture hall (822) on the 8th floor of the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Please note that this event is free of charge, but we require registration at the conference website [http://opensymposium.net/2009/registration/].

Keynote speakers include:
- Yrjö Engeström (University of Helsinki)
- Massimo Menichinelli (Open Peer-to-Peer Design)
- Saara Taalas (Media Futures Network)
- Jiri Räsänen (eCars – Now!)

In addition to the keynotes, the event is structured around 12 short paper presentations and 4 video screenings that are organized in two tracks: Life in the Open and Making Openness.
