25.-31.10.2010 Media Lab people at Shift Festival

Media Lab students were invited to participate the Shift Festival – a New Media Art and Electronic Music Festival in Switzerland. The theme of this year festival is LOST & FOUND – rediscover and reinterpret. The festival special guest is the Swiss pioneer of electronic music Bruno Spoerri (born 1935).

Two of us sent their projects:

MA student Sara Jacobsen’s project is a video installation ‘Immersive Bauhaus’, and doctoral student Nuno Correia’s project is a performance, an audiovisual adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel Master and Margarita – featuring video artist Andre Carrilho.

Sara’s project in nutshell:
“Considering the Shift Festival theme of “Lost and Found”, architectural videos featured in this installation reflect the concept of returning to an architectural space that has lost its original purpose and been found by a new audience. The Bauhaus Masters’ Houses and school at Dessau were designed with the intention to elevate social interaction to a harmonious creative state. Although the buildings have lost their roles of living and work spaces, they continue to influence the environment they occupy.”
