POSTPONED Ecologies and Systems ()

From 2009-01-12 to 2009-01-16

Teachers and coordinators: Andrew Paterson

Location: 3rd floor meeting room

This 5-day workshop aims to focus on ecologies and systems in project/process design and management, inviting participants to bring a project/process to conceptually expand, develop, unpack and adjust.

Different interpretations of system ecologies, eco-system management, sustainability, and permaculture will be introduced, collectively discussed, researched, and conceptually applied to that which is selected or brought to the workshop context.

The workshop week, facillitated by Andrew Paterson, operates more like a think-tank, reflecting upon personal experience and the term 'environmental awareness', to include social, cultural, urban, natural and media/digital relations.

Research and expanded individual/collective project/process models will be presented at the end of the week.

learning_outcomes : * Students will learn about eco-systems from a variety of different perspectives, and go through a steps of imagining how it might relate or apply to their own project/processual work.

* Students will critically analyse the expanded network relations in different projects; gaining an understanding of the various social, cultural, economical and participatory influences on community organisation and development in environmentally-conscious projects.

* The pedagogical structure is designed to encourage a reflective practice, engaging with one's own work or a project/process particularly self-motivating to research.

study_mode : The course consists of dialogical seminar discussions, with reflective 'unpacking' sessions of example projects, both individually and collectively. One day of the week (Thursday) will involve working without the teacher.
