The Cyberpunk world is a dark and sinister place where computers control all aspects of human life and corporations have replaced governments. In this high tech and low life world, where urban spaces have become chaotic and violence has become the tool for survival, some people live outside of society. Lovers of freedom, physical or mental, and illegal anti-heroes move within this dystopian society, where there is a constant struggle to understand and learn that their lives are in the hands of the others.
In this projection we will present an array of information, soundtracks and images that are related to this literary trend that emerged in the '80s. Some of the many interpretations of this trend will also be included. Is it a coincidence that in William Gibson´s novel, “Neuromancer” (1984), the word MICROSOFT is used to define a cybernetic implant behind the ear?
Cultural agitator Jon Irigoyen was born in the dirty, punk, post-industrial city of Bilbao. He has lived in cities as diverse as Madrid, Bristol and Barcelona and is currently based in Helsinki.

Cyberpunk-maailma on synkkä ja arvaamaton paikka, jossa tietokoneet hallitsevat kaikki ihmiselämän osa-alueita ja yhtiöt ovat korvanneet hallitukset. Tässä korkean teknologian ja matalan elämän maailmassa, jossa kaupunkitiloista on tullut kaoottisia, ja jossa väkivallasta on tullut selviytymiskeino, jotkut ihmiset elävät yhteiskunnan ulkopuolella. Vapauden - fyysisen tai henkisen - rakastajat ja laittomat antisankarit liikkuvat tässä dystopisessa yhteiskunnassa, jossa on jatkuvaa taistelua ymmärtää ja oppia, että heidän elämänsä ovat muiden käsissä.
Tässä projektiossa esittelemme kokoelman informaatiota, soundtrackeja ja kuvia, jotka liittyvät tähän 80-luvulla ilmestyneeseen kirjallisuuden trendiin. Joitain tämän trendin monista tulkinnoista sisällytetään myös. Onko sattumaa, että William Gibsonin romaanissa Neuromancer (1984) sanaa MICROSOFT käytetään kuvailemaan korvan takana olevaa cybernetic implanttia?
