01 Area

Ørestad ligger lige mellem Københavns Lufthavn og det ”gamle” København. Det gør den nye bydel til et knudepunkt i Øresundsregionen. I Ørestad er der plads til byggeri, der på grund af sin størrelse eller karakter ikke ville kunne indpasses i Københavns eksisterende kvarterer.

I starten af 90’erne begyndte overvejelserne om at omdanne Ørestadsarealet, der ligger på kanten af Amager og Kalvebod Fælled, til Københavns nye udviklingsområde. Tankerne udsprang blandt andet af, at Øresundsbroen blev vedtaget, og Øresundsregionen som et dansk/svensk vækstområde tog form og blev realistisk.

Ørestad i tal
• Ørestad udvikles over 20-30 år
• Ørestad strækker sig over fem kilometer fra kanten af Københavns City til Kalvebod Fælled
• Bydelens bredde er cirka 600 meter
• Ørestad består af fi re kvarterer
• Ørestads areal er 3,1 millioner kvadratmeter
• En tredjedel af Ørestads samlede areal består af parker eller naturområde
• Mindst 60.000 mennesker kommer til at arbejde i Ørestad
• Mindst 20.000 mennesker kommer til at bo i Ørestad
• Mindst 20.000 mennesker kommer til at studere i Ørestad
• Der er seks Metrostationer i Ørestad: Islands Brygge,Universitetet/DR Byen, Sundby, Bella Center, Ørestad og Vestamager
• Det tager 12 minutter at køre med Metroen fra Nørreport til Ørestad station og 29 minutter fra Ørestad station til Malmø med regionaltoget.
