Now Riitta has time to watch the morning news. She prefers to watch the news in her bed, and she has a large wall display on the wall opposite to her bed. Sulevi follows her to the bedroom and Riitta lifts it onto the bed. Sulevi lies down on the bed at the place Riitta put it, and Riitta lies down next to him. She moves Sulevi's head so that she can easily use the keys on Sulevi’s head and neck. |

Liftability: To be able to lift Sulevi onto the bed, Sulevi needs
to be designed so that it does not break, even if it is lifted from the
ears. Also, Sulevi must weight less than 2,5 kg.
Lying down: To be natural, and to avoid blocking its master's view,
Sulevi should be able to lie down when needed. It's feet fold like those
of a normal dog. Sulevi has been tought at the factory already that when
it is lifted up from the floor e.g. to a chair or bed, it lies down on
the spot it is placed.
Movable head: Because there are some keys on Sulevi's
head and neck, it should be as easy as now to move the keypad. So,
Sulevi's head should move easily in all directions, and stay still after
the movement. A stiff string pipe in the place of the throat, covered with
fur could be one simple solution.
Keys on head and neck: One of the most important functions of a remote
control now and in the future is to control the TV system. The TV will
change a lot, so that the user browses the available programs somewhat
like an advanced WWW, and watches the interesting programs like videos.
It would be annoying if we could control the TV system only with voice
commands: "more volume" ... "more volume" ... "still more volume". A key
interface is needed as well, so Sulevi offers a simple but functional set
of keys for controlling the TV system on its head and neck. When the user
is not using the keys, they are hidden behind a fur cover.
