Hypertext

Hypertext novel by Michael Joyce:

http://www.eastgate.com/TwelveBlue/

- Vannevar Bush, Memex (1945) and assosiative reading, links betveen texts, a mechanical idea of intertextuality?

- Douglas Engelbart, Augmentation (1950-60), for mental cooperation, common idea inside a workingroup. (Invented also a mouse and a window)

- Theodore (Ted) Nelson, invented terms hypertext, hypermedia. Xanadu -project 60` became as Literary Machines 1993 (vs Internet). Non-seguential ie. unlinear

(Is it possibe to understand unlinear fiction? Would multilinear be better? Ie several possibilitites to read, several orders to the text.)

- Hypercard and links between two lexias (Barthes, S/Z and George P. Landlow).

Lexias can include pictures, sound etc. Is it the same as hypermedia or multimedia?

- Links, anchors and cues (linikit, ankuurit ja vihjeet) A cue could be a colour, a button etc.

a link
an anchor (cue is a colour)

- Hypertext editors: Story Space for authors (Michael Jyce, Stuart Moulthorp), Hypercard for guide books and manuals, html for everything? CD-rom, director?

Create a hypertext document - at least three linked files. It could be interesting to use mainly text and consentrate to assosiative thoughts and links. an You manage without pictures? What other metapohors You can use except pictures?poutia/project/scriptwriting/katse/
