Telematic Dancing: The Telepresence Project
The '97 Telepresence project was a Tokyo-New York multimedia collaboration
of butoh (Tomoe Shizune & Hakutobo), bunraku (Yoshida Tamamatsu), music
(Elliot Sharp), motion capture (imagica sakuratei) and visual media
(Floating Point Unit) using the ISDN. The project was directed and produced
by Akeno, who belongs to the butoh group Tomoe Shizune & Hakutobo and also
runs Akeno project, a tour of solo performances and improvisations. Her
solo performance Renyo sho - Far from the Lotus is in the Helsinki Asia
Festival programme at the Alexander theatre on May 11.
