| When Eppu has found the clothes to ware,
he asks "Are there any text messages?". "Wuf",
says Tessu, which means yes. "Display the message
list", asks Eppu, and by looking at the bedroom
display, he sees he has one message from Pekka. The message includes
a one page description about the situation. He does not have the time to
read the message at home, he decides to read it
on his way to work.
Eppu goes to shave and wash his teeth, and Tessu is following him again. "Tessu, I'll take my car this morning", says Eppu, because the car is the fastest way to get to his work. It is -15 degrees outside, so Tessu puts the heater on for the car. It still takes about 10 minutes to warm up the car. |

Wuf
answer: Tessu cannot speak, but it has speakers through which it can
send a few different messages. "Wuf" means yes or positive. When it recognizes
Eppu saying "Are there any text messages", it checks the messages and answers
yes by saying "Wuf".
Remote controlling the message system: Tessu can recognize
some command words of Eppu's speech, and remembers which system has been
operated most previously. So, when Eppu says "Show the message list", Tessu
knows it is the text messages that Eppu wants to display. Basically, Tessu
can recognize all the commands that the devices have in their command language,
plus many more words and phrases defined at the factory.
Displaying messages on a display: Tessu knows the position of
its master, and the positions of all the home devices. It can figure out
which display the master is able to see. It can also reserve (and free)
an area on the display to show the needed messages.
Reading messages in a car: The received messages are not necessarily
stored at home, but anyway they can be fetched onto portable devices anywhere
in the world. Tessu is not needed for this functionality.
Following the master: Tessu can move around the apartment,
recognizes its master and has a radar for estimating distances. These features
make it possible for it to follow its master when s/he is walking around.
Tessu does not, however, go out with its master or enter the regions it
has no permission, like a shower.
Temperature check: There is a digital temperature metering system,
that Tessu can use remotely for checking the temperatures in several places.
Putting the car heater on: Eppu has programmed Tessu so that when he
is going to drive a car, and the outside temperature is below zero, Tessu
puts the car heater on automatically. So, when Tessu recognizes the words
"take my car" and "this morning", it checks that it is morning now and
the outside temperature is -15 according to the temperature system, so
it puts the car heater on instantly (there is no need to plug in any cables
for the heater).
