"Please order me the usual sandwich breakfast
to work". "Uurf?" answers Tessu, which means it did
not understand the command. No wonder, Eppu had the toothbrush in his mouth
while talking. Now he turns to Tessu and tries to articulate more clearly:
"Order the normal sandwich breakfast to work". "Wuf",
replies Tessu and sends the command further to the shopping system that
Eppu has in his communication center.
After a while, Tessu notices that a confirmation message arrived from the breakfast company, asking the subscriber to confirm the order. Tessu shows the message on the bathroom display with a plim sound. Eppu checks the price and continues brushing his teeth. After 20 seconds, Tessu tells the communication center to confirm the order. |

Normal breakfast: Eppu has ordered a certain sandwich from a certain
company tens of times. When Tessu recognizes the words "order", "sandwich
breakfast" and "normal", it checks the previous 20 commands in its own
memory where Eppu has ordered a sandwich breakfast. It recognizes that
18 of them is the same order, so it can pick up the same command as before.
"To work" describes the place of delivery, the default is home. Tessu
has been given the addresses of most important places, so it knows that
an "order" needs a delivery address, and it should now use the address
of place called "work". Tessu was programmed initially to show the interpreted
command to Eppu, so that Eppu can check if he was understood correctly,
but now Eppu counts on Tessu's abilities.
Wuf
answer: Tessu cannot speak, but it has speakers through which it sends
a few different messages. "Wuf" means yes or positive. When it finally
recognizes what Eppu is saying, it responds positively by saying "Wuf".
Message arrived: Eppu checks the home event list continuously,
and it gets the information about the messages arrived there. Because the
message is from the same address as the one Tessu just sent a message to
and a confirmation is requested, it shows the message to Eppu at once.
The plim sound is to ensure that Eppu notices the message.
Displaying messages on a display: Tessu knows the position of
its master, and the positions of all the home devices. It can figure out
which display the master is able to see. It can also reserve (and free)
an area on the display to show the needed messages.
Plim: Each display has at least a limited set of sounds, which
Tessu can activate remotely. When it shows an urgent message on the display,
like a message that requires a confirmation, it activates the plim sound
on the display. When the sound comes from the display, people know where
to look at.
Confirm after a timeout: Eppu trusts on Tessu. He has programmed
Tessu so that if a message requests a confirmation, and he does not react,
Tessu sends a confirmation automatically. Tessu waits for 20 seconds and
sends a confirm command to the communication center.
