Site: Raisio, Tuomala hoard (1835).

Period: Viking Age.

Dating: 996-1002 A.D.

Size: Diameter 17 mm.

Weight: 1.10 g.

This coin was minted for the emperor Otto III (983-1002) in Cologne, as is shown by the abbreviated Latin name of that city, S[ancta] COLONIA A[grippina], on the obverse. Colognian coins are very common in Viking-Age finds: in Finland more than 500 coins are known.
