FIELD PICTURES

Type: Inhumation burial.

Site: Raisio, Kansakoulunmäki Hill.

Period: Viking Age / Crusade Age / Early Middle Ages.

Dating: 12th Century.

This photograph was taken during an excavation of the Kansakoulunmäki Hill done in th 1950's. The photographs shows the grave of a woman from the 12th Century. Three pennannular brooches were found in the grave. The ones on the shoulders fastened a woollen shirt. The one on the breast possibly fastened a blouse, or a shawl.
