What is your name?
Giedre Kligyte

Excuse me?
Giedre Kligyte. You'll learn it eventually.

Why is your name so weird?
It is not weird in Lithuania. It is quite common among women of my age. It is purely Lithuanian and means something like 'clear sky'. So in other places in the world I'd probably be Clair or Klara or...

Where are you now?
I just moved to Singapore from Helsinki (after living there for 5 years). I'm so happy that autumn and winter will not come this year.

What are you doing in Singapore?
Enjoying good weather, good food and seriously looking for a job.

What languages can you speak?
For last 5 years English has been my primary language in my studies, at work and in private life. These days I think, dream and count in English. But Lithuanian, of course, is my mother tongue, so I know it best. I also knew Russian very well - I've been reading all the classical Russian literacture in the original language when I was a teenager. Although it got a bit rusty during years, I think, if I'd spend some time in the environment where I'd need it, it would come back.. I can read and I understand spoken Finnish quite well. I'm able to speak Finnish too, it is my 3rd language (secret language) these days. There aren't that many people who'd understand Finnish in Singapore, so it is very useful if we want to share some doubts or strange ideas with my husband. I also studied German at school, 1 weekly lesson at 7.45 in the morning (before regular classes used to start) for 2 years, so you can imagine the results.. And I studied French un peau.

What language do you speak in Lithuania?
Lithuanian. We have our own (and very complex) language. It doesn't remind any other language except Latvian..
