This statue of Virgin Mary holding infant Jesus is made by the so-called Master of Lieto. He was either a Gottlandish sculptor or a Finnish sculptor who received influence from the Gottlandish Gothic. No literary documents concerning him have been preserved but his oeuvre is identifiable by its style. Of the sculptures in Raisio church, also the crucifix and St. Martin are made by him.
