Path

Two parts
The Path is divided into two parts that support each other and the exhibition experience throughout the visit. Both are offering both practical and creative solutions for accessibility issues as they are designed and created by Huomioi kaikki for this exhibition exclusively.
Graphic design part
Navigating in museum space
All of us have different abilities. The goal of the graphic design part of the Path is to help to create an exhibition, where regardless to ones ability, one can easily access the information. Through the whole exhibition the graphic solutions work seamlessly. The purpose is not to emphasize the differences between people but to have equal experience.

The graphic design part consists of a flyer with tactile map, tactile map for the entrance, Braille information and a written guideline for an accessible exhibition, with measurements and examples.
Installation part
Moving in everyday life
The installation part of the Path is one route in the hallway that is located in middle of the exhibition space. It leads you from outside into the museum space and brings you back to everyday life. It consists of three kiosks; Everyday object, First touch and We are human beings.

Each kiosk connects the exhibition content about history of Finnish industrial design with the issue ' cultural accessibility' by telling the story 'Moving in Everyday life'.

We all move in the same space and use the same object. Objects and spaces respond to many different needs. Such aspects as shape, sound, scent, feel, memories, material and appearance effect our experience of an object.

[Kiosk 1]
Everyday object

This object was designed for a certain purpose. When and how did it become important for someone?

Each of these boxes contains an everyday object that has become important for someone at some point in their life. People of different ages and cultures and people with different skills and values have brought objects of their own to this exhibition.

[Kiosk 2]
First touch

These stories are told by someone. What memories do they awake in you?

Each stop has benches where you can stop for a chat or a rest. Featured are different stories of people's first experiences of cycling, shopping or using a cell phone or a knife. You can share memories of your own experiences by drawing or writing about them in the book.

[Kiosk 3]
We are humane beings

This place is for silence. Can you hear your own breath?

You can enter this stop and listen to your own breathing. You can think about yourself and how you relate to this exhibition. How do your experiences and observations at the museum connect with your personal daily life?
