Accessibility

General
Design for all is a vital part of the Helsinki University of Art and Design's education- and research activities and content. With the help of Mummi-project, founded in 2002, students get familiar with user centered design and we research and produce various mediainstallation to wide audiences.

Multimodal user interface can be at it's best intuitive, easy to use and accessible with many senses. The important goal of Mummi studyprojects is to help future mediadesigners to undestand that there is no product without a user or content that is relevant to the user.

In a museum the information that is offered via for example digital media has to be also accessible for everyone. Many museums have ongoing projects to digitize our cultural heritage. Re-presenting this information for big audiences is a challange. Computer screen is not always the best way to display information. With new media you can offer interfaces for various senses - also touching, hearing, feeling and movement can be ways to build knowledge.
