Introduction to Designing Interaction with Electronics workshop 2009 at Media Lab Helsinki
The purpose of Interaction Design with Electronic workshop is an “intensive hands on” workshop to learn how to turn your idea into a real physical object using electronics and microcontrollers. These tools and techniques will be useful for rapid prototyping in physical interaction design and/ or installation work.
This course is a one-week workshop from 2009-11-09 to 2009-11-13 at Media Lab Helsinki. The course accepts maximum 12 students. Students form some groups during the workshop. The workshop will spend a few days to understand basic electronics and programming. Each group will develop a concept of work and create the work with electronics and computer. The groups are also expected to show the interaction works in final presentation on Friday.
These video are from some of students’ final presentations at the previous workshops (13min). Note that you cannot create this type of works unless you work really hard!
All students are expected to be present at the course everyday and work hard because you need spend a lot of time for not only programming but also electronics. The following workshops will help you to develop more sophisticated interactive works during the workshop.
- Multimedia Authoring (Flash Actionscript)
- Composing with PureData (PureData)
- Rapid Mobile Application Prototyping workshop (S60 Python)
The following videos show how to connect external sensors to Adobe Flash, PureData and s60 Python.
