DESIGN RESEARCH

The following are some of the short research projects done for clients

NOKIA DESIGN OASIS - Live India Project

Sept 2007, Bangalore @ Srishti school of art, design and Technology

Overview

I led a team of three students through the process of designing concept phones for Nokia Live project. The project involved in depth research on a certain user category of urban youth predefined by NOKIA and understanding their routines, behaviors, preferences and dislikes. This understanding juxtaposed with larger design and lifestyle trends evolved into a concept phone design. My responsibility in this four-month project was to work closely with the students, guide them and channel their thought processes and ideas into insights for the development of the concept phone idea. It was a fun yet challenging project that helped me get a better understanding of the needs and aspirations of people in an Indian context and the role and meaning of technology in a larger sense, in their lives.

CENTRE FOR KNOWLEDGE SOCIETIES (CKS)

July 2005, Bangalore

Overview

A short research project where different systems/ models in a city was required to be studied under the general umbrella of “communication” which fed into a larger research CKS was involved in. Studied and prepared an interactive presentation exploring the multi-purpose shops (usually providing multiple set of common services like Xerox, lamination, STD phone booths etc) that line the roads of common market areas in the city in abundance. I researched the above through a small shop in Malleswaram called “Klear Prints” and explored its role as a living organism in a city and how it contributes to the flow of information in its locality.
